Seasonal Skin Reset Ritual
A Simple Fall Refresh + DIY Seasonal Glow Facial Oil
As summer begins to fade and cooler days arrive, you may notice your skin changing too.
The lightweight products that felt perfect during hot summer weather may suddenly leave your skin wanting a little more moisture. Lips may feel drier. Hands need more attention. Even your usual cleansing or exfoliating routine can begin to feel different.
A Seasonal Skin Reset isn't about replacing everything on your bathroom shelf.
It's simply a chance to notice what your skin is telling you—and adjust accordingly.
Start With Your Skin
Before changing anything, take a good look at your skin.
Does it feel tighter after cleansing?
Are you noticing dry or rough patches?
Do your lips need balm more often?
Does your usual moisturizer seem to disappear almost immediately?
Your skin doesn't follow the calendar precisely. Let how it looks and feels determine what needs to change.
1. Reconsider Your Cleanser
As temperatures cool and the air becomes drier, a cleanser that worked beautifully during summer may begin to feel too stripping.
If your skin feels tight or uncomfortable after cleansing, consider switching to a gentler cream, milk, or hydrating cleanser.
Clean skin should feel comfortable—not squeaky.
2. Ease Up on Exfoliation
After a summer of sunscreen, heat, sweat, and outdoor activity, it's tempting to exfoliate your way into perfectly smooth fall skin.
More isn't necessarily better.
If your skin is becoming dry or sensitive, reduce the frequency or intensity of exfoliation and give your skin time to adjust.
3. Layer In More Hydration
You may not need an entirely new routine.
Sometimes adding one richer product is enough.
Try layering a hydrating serum beneath your moisturizer, switching to a slightly richer moisturizer at night, or adding a few drops of facial oil as your final evening step.
Which brings us to our DIY...
🌿 DIY Seasonal Glow Facial Oil
This simple blend combines lightweight jojoba and squalane with richer rosehip seed oil for an easy seasonal addition to your evening routine.
You'll Need
2 tablespoons organic jojoba oil
1 tablespoon organic rosehip seed oil
1 teaspoon plant-derived squalane oil
2–3 drops vitamin E oil
Make It
Add all of the ingredients to a clean, dark glass dropper bottle.
Close and gently roll the bottle between your palms to combine.
Store away from direct sunlight and heat.
Use It
At night, apply your usual moisturizer and then gently press 2–3 drops of the facial oil over your skin.
You can also mix a drop into your moisturizer when you want something lighter.
Start with a small amount. Facial oil should leave your skin feeling comfortable and nourished—not greasy.
If any ingredient is new to your skin, patch-test it first.
4. Remember the Areas Beyond Your Face
Cooler, drier weather doesn't only affect your complexion.
This is a perfect time to bring a little extra attention to:
Lips — keep a nourishing balm nearby.
Hands & cuticles — moisturize after washing and before bed.
Neck & décolletage — extend your moisturizer below the jawline.
Body — apply body oil or moisturizer while skin is still slightly damp after bathing.
Many of these already have their own rituals in the Self-Care Retreat, making fall a wonderful time to revisit them.
5. Keep the Sunscreen
Summer may be ending.
UV exposure isn't.
If preferred, continue using broad-spectrum sunscreen on exposed skin as part of your morning routine, even as temperatures become cooler.
6. Reset Your Beauty Shelf
Changing seasons also provides the perfect excuse for a little bathroom-shelf refresh.
Wash your makeup brushes and reusable skincare tools.
Check products for expiration or recommended period-after-opening dates.
Clean jars, bottles, rollers, gua sha tools, and applicators.
Discard anything that has changed noticeably in smell, color, or texture.
Then put the products you're actually using somewhere easy to reach.
Sometimes the nicest reset is simply making your routine feel fresh again.
Make It a Ritual
You don't need an entirely new skincare routine every season.
Notice.
Adjust.
Nourish where your skin needs a little more.
Put away what no longer serves you and bring forward what does.
Then mix your little bottle of Seasonal Glow Facial Oil and place it beside your evening moisturizer.
A new season doesn't require starting over.
Sometimes it simply asks for a few thoughtful changes.
Small rituals, done consistently, create lasting change.
